True Blood: S1

Somehow I never did a post for True Blood Season 1.  I’ve got Season 2, Season 3, and Season 4 posted, but nothing for the first season. The premiere twelve episodes really sets the stage for the upcoming seasons.  We’re introduced to a powerhouse of characters, Sookie, Bill, Sam, Tara, Lafayette, Jason, Gran, Eric, Pam, Jessica, Hoyt, Andy, Amy, Arlene, Terry, Rene, Lettie Mae, MaryAnn, and Eggs.  So many fun storylines.  Signature Alan Ball at the helm makes this creepy silly sexy cool.  I wish more series played like the True Blood team plays.  Not afraid to cross a line more than now and then.  The gay plotlines are more subtle in this first season.  We haven’t been introduced to the King of Mississippi yet, but Lafayette certainly holds his own with all the dirty, pervy straight sex going on (Jason who?).  My friend Grace‘s favorite episode is the AIDS burger with Lafayette.  I think mine is when he calls the bearish shy guy at the bar Santa.  So fucking perfect:

Now’s a good time to catch up on True Blood before the new season begins and last year’s season gets released on DVD next month.  Take a trip back to Bon Temps.  You’ll be glad you did.

9/1/2016: Caught up with the Bon Temps family watching late night episodes when I just wasn’t quite ready to call it a day, but didn’t want to swallow one more ounce of politics. Loved visiting season 1 a third time. Just beautiful.

I forgot the Santa Claus scene! So happy Alan Ball decided not to follow the books with the Lafayette plot. Nelsan is amazing!

I was thinking the SAME thing, Grace when I watched the final episode for S1. Could have been the end for our boy. Whew!
