Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

harry potter and the sorcerer's stoneHard to believe the first Harry Potter film is already 12 years old. Of course Daniel Radcliffe is playing Alan Ginsberg in a new film out this year, so I suppose it’s not that difficult to image. This week I got a sports massage from my Chiropractor’s Office and this woman Betsy, the massage therapist turned out to be a  shaman. She brought up Harry Potter in conversation about how I should be looking at my life, so I thought it was fitting to watch the first film again. I get so weepy over these movies. I cry at the wonder and magic of it all. I cry because I want my life to have that magic. Not literally, well, yes goddammit it. Literally! So little Harry, Hermione, and Ron meet and begin their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They stumble upon a mystery, the sorcerer’s stone and so the series begins. This is such great stuff. Mythic. J.K. Rowling really stumbled upon something spectacular in her imagination when she created these characters. A 5 out of 5 for this perennial kids of age ages favorite.

Read the book first!
