The Wizard of Oz (Blu-ray)

Never made it to the theater to see my favorite, The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary in IMAX 3-D, but I did order a new Blu-ray copy for my collection. Watched the first night it arrived in the mail. I love the detail Blu-ray gives especially for films you’ve seen many, many times. I couldn’t get over the yellow eye make-up on the Wizard when he was playing the gatekeeper. And the costumes in Munchkinland and the Emerald City were off the charts spectacular. Also the set paintings… so beautiful. And Dorothy’s hair once she gets it done in the Oz beauty parlor. I love that technology is allowing us to see new things in our old favorites. Do I really need to say 5 out of 5? I didn’t think so. I will say that two of favorite adult moments are when Dorothy’s house lands after being in the eye of the twister and she lets out the most delicate “oh” I’ve ever heard. Cracks me up every time. And when she says, “Toto darling…” Dorothy was a true dog lover.
