The Fosters: S1

fosters s1Peter Paige (Queer as Folk) and producing partner Brad Bredeweg created The Fosters – a heartwarming family drama that just happens to be about a lesbian couple raising a family of biological, adopted and foster kids all together under one roof. Casual, carefree, sincere, with just the right dose of drama – The Fosters hits all the right notes of a television family drama. Sherri Saum and Teri Polo work their magic as the two Moms but as in all family dramas, it is really the children who are the stars of this show. Each of the five children’s characters have a very unique story line which leaves room for the writers to go in a lot of different directions. I’m thrilled to see a show like The Fosters plunked down in this genre. It reminds me of a modern-day Eight is Enough or 7th Heaven. What a great idea to take the genre in a completely fresh direction. I probably won’t watch much more of it, because it really is a kids show, so I’m only giving The Fosters a 3.5 out of 5, but that’s a very strong recommendation. If family drama is your kind of show, you’ll love The Fosters.

I’ve watched a few more episodes of The Fosters and I really feel like upgrading my rating to a 4.  It just keeps getting better and better.  Really nails the genre.

Finished the entire season and I’m completely hooked. Definitely a solid 4 out of 5. A beautiful show full of characters making continual mistakes and figuring it all out through love. Bravo Peter Paige!
