P’tit Quinquin (Li’l Quinquin)

quinquin_FINALBruno Dumont’s (Humanite, Camille Claudel 1915) bizarre, surreal French mini-series, Li’l Quinquin gets a U.S. release on DVD. Heralded as a cross between Twin Peaks and True Detective, I was excited to sit down and watch this four-part series. Unfortunately, Li’l Quinquin‘s quirkiness didn’t speak to me. It’s a high quality production with great child actors and a very bizarre premise. But after 40 minutes I didn’t care about the characters or the plot. Perhaps someone else might feel differently. Li’l Quinquin got a 100% rating (from 17 critics) on Rotten Tomatoes. I just didn’t get the quirks. 2 out of 5. Next.
