Salem’s Lot (1979)

salem's lot 1979Took a stroll down memory lane with the 1979 made-for-TV movie based on  Stephen King’s book, Salem’s Lot. I remember reading this book as a kid and watching the movie on television. Loved the book. The movie starred David Soul (Hutch of Starsky & Hutch fame), a young Lance Kerwin, Bonnie Bedelia, and James Mason as the creepy guy living in the creepy house. I couldn’t make it to the point where the vampire finally shows up. I fell asleep during some of it. It was dull like a lot of those TV movies were back in the day. Watered down for network television censor approval. Couldn’t even begin to capture that Stephen King magic. I supposed I shouldn’t bother trying to watch Starsky & Hutch either. Some things should just remain content in my memory. Meanwhile 2 out of 5 for the original Salem’s Lot. Anyone see the Rob Lowe remake a few years ago? Worth watching?
