Narcos

narcos s1Watched the first two episodes of Netflix’s new drug drama, Narcos about the rise of Pablo Escobar – the person who introduced cocaine to Miami during the 1980’s. I wasn’t thinking I would love Narcos, but you never know. I could have said the same for Breaking Bad or The Walking Dead. Narcos uses a lot of Spanish language dialogue with English sub-titles which impressed me. Definitely hitting two audiences with that decision: foreign-language film lovers and the Spanish-speaking population in the U.S. Smart move Netflix. Aside from that I can’t say much about loving the show. The first episode used voice over so frequently, I felt like I was in a high school history class instead of watching a drama. Did they really have to explain to the audience how difficult it was to track people before GPS and cell phones? If you loved The Sopranos or Breaking Bad, you might want to give Narcos a shot. Already got renewed for a second season. It didn’t speak to me and I found the show clunky. I’m giving it a 2 out of 5. Next.
