The Red Road: S1

red roadI keep a list of television shows to watch in an e-sticky note on my laptop. New shows to try out and older shows to keep track of upcoming seasons. The Red Road from Sundance TV has been on my to-watch list for sometime. Finally decided to give it a whirl. At a slight six episodes, The Red Road is a very easy show to digest, time commitment-wise. The two leads who are both male are very sexy. NZ actor Martin Henderson is beautifully easy on the eyes in that pretty yet rough Kiwi way, and Jason Momoa is just plain hot. Tall, powerful looking and what ethnic blend is he? I won’t spoil that fun. You can click here if you’re interested. Co-star Julianne Nicholson holds her own with both men in a demanding role. The casting and acting are first-rate. The stories are a bit second tier. I don’t mean that in a bad way. Not everything can be outstanding caliber. There’s certainly appeal in watching The Red Road. It just doesn’t match up to legendary shows. Still I was pulled in and watched all six episodes in three days. There’s a whole Native American thing that needs to be explored more fully – hopefully in subsequent seasons. Lots of great characters actors in the mix including the captivating Tamara Tunie, Nick Gomez, Tom Sizemore (playing a little to close to type), Anotoni Corone, Allie Gonino, Kiowa Gordon and Lisa Bonet (Denise from The Cosby Show). I’m giving The Red Road a 3 out of 5 and looking forward to it digging a little deeper in Season 2 which just aired this Spring. I watched S1 on Netflix.
