Foyle’s War: S6

foyle's war s6Series 6 of the British WWII mystery drama, Foyle’s War actually moves beyond the fighting. It’s now post-war England but Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle continues to be assigned to a desk. Obviously this doesn’t intrude on him finding interesting cases to solve. Foyle’s War is a quiet, respectful drama – part Miss Marple, part Nancy Drew, part Poirot. In other words, sophisticated and on the quieter side. The Nancy Drew is a reference to Foyle’s former driver Sam who continues to be involved in his investigations. Foyle’s War is a sweet show with good acting and high production values, but it fails to capture my complete attention like many of the other outstanding British mysteries. 3 out of 5.
