Throwback Thursday: The State Within

The State WithinOf the eleven viewings I posted about during my first September blogging seven years ago in 2009, the one I keep thinking about and have watched three times in total is the 2006 BBC mini-series, The State Within. From Reel Charlie,

My favorite kind of television: espionage, intrigue, hot gay men kissing and just a touch of cheesy dialogue to remind me it’s not as scary as I feel. The suspense ramps up intensely in this BBC mystery set in Washington and Tampa. Ben Daniels plays the most complicated gay male character seen on television, possibly ever (Omar Little of The Wire is in a league of his own people). Jason Isaacs plays sexy, Sharon Gless steals icy cold scary and the supporting cast shines in this 6-part mini-series mixing international politics with corporate greed.

Read the full review here on Reel Charlie plus the follow-up third time’s a charm from 2012.
