Hunter (2015)

hunterWatched another gay male indie called Hunter this past weekend courtesy of Netflix DVDs which I still insist on subscribing to and getting in the mail each week. The constant self-badgering of 20-somethings all angsty with the dullness of their social lives grates on my nerves to be frank. These kids are so privileged, but I get it. No matter what you have or don’t have, this time can be fraught with excessive self-reflection. From an older outsider I can’t help but yawn, but I do get it. Hunter boasts a good cast specifically Jack Falahee as Gavin and Ella Hatamian as Amy who play nicely off each other as bored best friends. Does anything ever happen in this film? Not really, but that’s also the point. Life goes on. La-di-da, la-de-da. I was hoping for more. All the parts are there. But in the end, Hunter never delivered. Even the East Village location scenes couldn’t raise the bar. 2.5 out of 5.
