Hannah Gadsby: Nanette

I was told by a good friend to check out Hannah Gadsby’s show, Nanette live at the SoHo Playhouse in NYC. I should have listened. Netflix picked the performance up and now has it streaming. I sent this text out after watching Nanette today,

You have to watch Netflix’s Hannah Gadsby: Nanette.  It’s the most powerful piece of performance I’ve seen in a long time. Starts out as stand up and then moves in a totally different direction.  Incredible.

Nanette is astonishing. It creeps up on you in the slyest of ways. Relaxing you, preparing you for the tension (as Hannah calls it) which comes in droves during the last half of the special. Gadsby’s show is so necessary. It’s so contemporary, and yet timeless as well. It feels like Hannah is speaking a new language we need to all start using if we want to survive. Mandatory viewing. You will be moved and changed. 5 out of 5.

Saw a clip of her when researching for my class last semester and she blew me away. Looking forward to the whole concert. Thanks for this post.

Wow! Thank you for this recommendation. I’m reeling at the level of truth and brilliance radiating from this Avatar…and also laughed out loud. Just the brave light of vulnerability we need in these dark times. Whoa Nelly and Onward! 💝
