The Pass

The Pass is a screen adaptation of John Donnelly’s play. Donnelly wrote the screenplay and the film is directed by Ben A. Williams. It was nominated for a BAFTA and has high marks from reviewers including a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I had trouble with the film and couldn’t finish. I love Russell Tovey and looked forward to watching The Pass. I found its posturing boring. I realize people still struggle with their sexuality, especially people in sports. And I empathize with that. But I found the dialogue stilted and became restless early on. I read some reviews which I normally avoid so my own Reel Charlie reviews are free of other people’s opinions. I wondered if we saw the same film. 2 out of 5. Next.
