Ozark: Season 2

Damn that Ozark is one scary ass tv show. Season 2 of the dark drama centered around an average American family gone bad – think father, mother, daughter, and son all channeling Walter White continued the creep factor. I can’t remember how many deaths there were – murders in the first season. Season 2 averaged about one per episode which seemed excessive to me. Still the characters are what puts this series over the top. Outstanding directing and acting from Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as Marty and Wendy Bryde (even their first names read “ah shucks”), Sofia Hublitz and Skylar Gaertner as their kids Charlotte and Jonah, Julia Garner as the can’t take my eyes off her, Ruth, Peter Mullan and Lisa Emery as Jacob and Darlene Snell, Janet McTeer as Helen Pierce, Darren Goldstein as Charles Wilkes, Charlie Tahan as Wyatt, Jason Butler as Roy Petty, Trevor Long as Cade, Harris Yulin as Buddy, and Jordano Spiro as Rachel.

I’m so thrilled to be one degree of separation from Lisa Emery who plays Darlene. Thanks David! Season 2 is riddled with violence. It was hard for me to take. But the rewards, particularly in the beauty of the acting were worth it – most of the time. Especially the second to the last episode which I tweeted,

Whoever decided to include Wichita Lineman in the penultimate episode of Ozark’s Season 2 needs to win an instant Emmy.

Ended up loving this season and walking the dog this morning slightly afraid of the man across the street walking his pit bull. Was he set up to follow and kill me? Oh wait, that’s just the TV series I’ve been watching all week. 4 out of 5. Shiver.
