Good Girls Revolt: Season 1

good-girls-revolt-s1Amazon green lit the pilot for Good Girls Revolt, a series based in 1969 at the advent of the Women’s Liberation Movement. Luckily for us, the rollicking trip through time premiered an entire season this weekend on Amazon Prime. Good Girls Revolt is smart, sexy, and historical. An easy-to-digest primer on feminism and a reminder that 45 years later we are still struggling with equal pay for equal work and full equality for women in general. I couldn’t get enough of this breezy, intelligent drama, binging through all 10 episodes. Well-written, based on the non-fiction book The Good Girls Revolt by Lynn Povich. Yes it feels like a female Mad Men. But what’s wrong with that. Instead of focusing on the Men, we get to watch the women’s stories. The only thing missing are LGBT characters. I was surprised there’s not a major lesbian character to be honest. One can hope the show widens their diversity in both in color and sexuality in Season 2. 4 out of 5 for this addictive and charming series.
